My name is Monica Dishong, & I live in Carlyss, LA with my family: my husband Gerald; our 2 sons, Ayden & Wyatt; and our other children before we had "real" kids: our Goldens! (Oh, and our cat Sampson.) I've been breeding Golden Retrievers for 10 years....started when I was still a Grindol....hence Grindol's Goldens. Currently, I work 1 shift per week as a labor & delivery nurse, with the remainder of my time spent enjoying the good life with my boys & my Goldens! We are responsible hobby breeders. We are not full-time breeders who breed several breeds of dogs year round, but we produce only a few "spoiled" litters each year. And, although our Goldens live and play in the backyard, we are not "backyard breeders" who breed a dog and know very little about the breed's qualities and problems. We know that Goldens have a reputation for bad health problems, & we do what we can to avoid this serious concern, which is why we have all our doggie parents screened & certified by board-certified veterinary specialists before we let them have puppies. (See "Tips on Finding a Healthy Puppy" Page.) We are responsible Golden owners & hobby breeders who love the Golden Retriever breed and ENJOY raising puppies to go on and make other's lives happy as they make our lives happy!! Our pups are not caged in a small kennel but are raised in our yard and home, being socialized with people, children, cats, and other dogs. We let our pups go to new, loving homes as early as 7 or 8 weeks old. By 6 weeks old, they have been to our veterinarian 3-4 times, having been dewormed 3 times and had their 1st set of immunization shots. The parents are also healthy: health clearances done, up-to-date on vaccinations, get their yearly physical examination by our veterinarian, take heartworm prevention, flea control, etc. . . . but more importantly, they are our pets & members of the family who love -- fetching anything . . . swimming in our pond . . . bike rides . . . chasing squirrels . . . . !! As I mentioned before, we do screen our doggie parents for hereditary defects. As any responsible breeder should, we pay particular attention to their hips & elbows (OFA), eyes (CERF), & heart (SAS) & have them cleared by board-certified veterinary specialists before letting them produce any puppies. And all of our puppies come with a written health guarantee (viewable on the "Meet the Parents" page). There are also many Champions in their bloodline- from conformation (show dog) champions to obedience champions to field (hunting) champions. We also work on having our dogs CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Certified. We usually have several different shades of gold from which to choose, ranging from creams to blondes to golds to dark reds. The price for one of our pups ranges from $600 & up (see "Meet the Parents" page for exact prices). For a delivery charge, we occasionally deliver to Houston, Texas (and anywhere between there and Lake Charles, LA). We will also consider shipping puppies, if necessay. We can fly them to most airports that service Continental or American Airlines for approximately an additional $275, depending on current flight costs. This shipping fee includes the plane ride, the kennel used for shipping (which would be yours to keep), and the health certificate from our veterinarian, which is required by the FAA for flight. We also have references available for you to check out. Ranging from people locally in Louisiana & Texas or from families all the way from the east coast to the west coast. We have very happy puppy owners with healthy, smart, & beautiful family pets. Some have even trained their puppies to be excellent hunters & therapy dogs. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me (Monica) at GGoldens@juno.com
